Unboxing your new Vizio TV setup are not too complicated. Whether you got an entry-level D-Series TV or a higher-end OLED TV, this article will help walk you through the process of getting your new set up and running in no time flat.
Unpacking and Assembling the TV
Begin by gently lifting your Vizio TV out of the box while leaving all of the packing materials inside the box until you’ve completed the setup process and verified that everything is running as it should. Next, find the stand legs or base in the packaging of your new TV and then attach them to the back of your TV using the screws that came with your new TV. If you will be mounting your TV, check the manual for the correct VESA mounting specifications. Place your new TV on a stable and level surface and allow for ample airflow around all sides of the TV.
Connecting Everything
After you’ve finished unboxing and setting up your new Vizio TV, you will want to connect the devices that you will use to watch your TV. To connect your cable or satellite box, streaming device, gaming system, or sound bar, connect them to one of the HDMI ports located on the rear or side panel of your new Vizio TV. Most models will have 3-5 HDMI ports, and typically HDMI 1 will have the capability to support ARC (Audio Return Channel) to connect to a sound bar. If you want to watch over-the-air broadcasts, connect your antenna or cable directly to the coax input of your Vizio TV. Finally, plug your TV into a surge protector to protect it from power surges.
Start-Up Period Setup Wizard And Initial Turn-On
To turn on your Vizio television, press the Power button on either the remote control or the television itself. The first time you use the TV, the setup wizard will appear. It will allow you to select a language, connect to a Wi-Fi network, and scan for channels. To set up Wi-Fi, you need to select your network name and enter your password correctly. Wait for confirmation that your connection is successful. You will need a good Internet connection to be able to use streaming apps and to receive firmware updates for your TV.
Turn on the Power to Your Television
Press the power button on either the remote control or the television. Once the television is powered on, you will see a setup wizard that will assist you with selecting your preferred language, configuring your network connection and scanning for channels on your behalf. If you want to use Wi-Fi, you need to find your Wi-Fi network name, enter your password and allow the television time to finish.
To Use SmartCast
SmartCast is the smart operating system that many new Vizio televisions come pre-installed with. Once your television is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi, you will be prompted to either create a Vizio account or login to an existing Vizio account to enable access to the apps that many streaming services offer, including Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video. Please make sure to install the SmartCast mobile application on your Smartphone so you can use your SmartPhone as an additional remote control and stream content from your Smartphone to your Smart TV.
To Optimize Picture and Audio
Find the picture settings menu on the television and choose a preset picture mode that most closely resembles your current viewing environment. Choosing the "Calibrated" or "Calibrated Dark" modes will provide you with the most accurate color representation of movies you watch, while the "Vivid" option is best suited for watching movies in well-lit rooms. Adjust the television's brightness, contras,t and sharpness settings according to the amount of light available in the room where you are watching your television. In the television's audio settings, activate the audio output from any soundbar that may be connected to your television or adjust the equalizer settings of the internal speakers of your television.

If you’re using an antenna, perform a scan of available channels; update your television's firmware by selecting ‘Settings’ on your television system menu for optimum performance, and add custom names to identify all inputs so that they are easier to locate.
