Which settings should you adjust first during your Vizio TV Setup

When configuring your new Vizio TV setup, you may be tempted to set it up quickly and accept the factory delivered setting. However, some alteration of defaults can greatly increase your overall viewing quality from the get-go. If you would like to know the first configuration items you should customize on your new Vizio TV, here’s a helpful guide to the most important three(3): Picture, Sound, and General Functionality.

1. Presets of Picture Modes

The first item to adjust on your Vizio TV is the picture mode. Vizio TVs generally come with four (4) preset picture modes for you to choose from: Standard, Vivid, Calibrated, and Movie. The Vivid Picture will often be most pleasing to you while in a big box store, as it jumps off the shelf with bright and colorful images. However, when viewingit in your home, most find it too bright. If you switch to either the Calibrated or Movie picture modes, you will be presented with a much more natural image with greater color accuracy and contrast consistency, which improves the overall comfort while viewing an image on your Vizio TV.

2. Brightness, Contrast, and Backlight

The second step is to fine-tune the Brightness, Contrast, and Backlight settings on your Vizio TV to the conditions found within your room. You should always adjust the backlight settings based on the level of light present in the room; higher for brighter, and lower for darker. This will assist with reducing eye fatigue. Contrast should be set at an appropriate level to allow for highlighting of the brightness of white colors without losing any detail. Finally, Brightness should balance out shadow detail without creating excessive washout on the screen.

3. Sharpness and Color Temperature

The default setting for sharpness may be too high, which can lead to unnatural edges around objects. A moderate setting will result in a more natural and realistic appearance to the image. In addition, color temperature settings are important; a warmer color temperature will provide a more accurate and cinematic look, as opposed to cooler default temperatures.

4. Motion Control Features

Many Vizio televisions include motion smoothing or motion control features in an effort to reduce blur during fast-motion scenes. However, these features can lead to what is known as the “soap opera effect.” If you would like your films and television shows to appear more natural, consider turning these functions off or setting them to low.

5. Audio Settings

Be sure to examine your audio settings as well. Use an audio mode that is appropriate for what you are viewing (movie, music, or standard). You can also set your surround sound and adjust your bass and treble levels to suit your taste. Make sure to configure your Vizio television's audio output if you are using an external soundbar.

Making these adjustments first will help to ensure you are enjoying the best performance from your Vizio TV! Quick Device Setup, taking five minutes to customize the settings, can lead to a major enhancement in your total entertainment experience!
